Oral sedation is a prescription medication that you take one hour prior to your appointment. You will feel completely relaxed and be unable to drive, so you will need a friend or family member to bring you to your appointment, pick you up afterward, and plan on staying with you the rest of the day.

When you take oral sedation medication, you will still be conscious, able to answer questions, and maintain your ability to follow instructions, but you will feel totally relaxed and you may experience some gaps in your memory after your appointment.
